Team Telecom Group has increased turnover by 30% since its management buyout in 2010, with record profits year on year. This has been driven by investment into new products and significantly expanding into overseas markets in the three years following a deal that saw backing from leading independent mid-market private equity house Gresham.
Commenting on the success, Mike Norfield CEO of TTG said: “At the three year stage post MBO, we continue to drive growth through developing new technologies and expanding the operations of our sales teams into new territories and industries. In particular, our capabilities and investment in the arena of critical communications have resulted in big wins overseas and more than half of our group business is now generated from overseas trade.”
Paul Franks, Partner at Gresham Private Equity said: “We are delighted with the progress of Team Telecom Group, especially the business’ international sales and investment in new technologies. We have been able to build on the company’s existing capabilities through two acquisitions post-MBO. TTG is one of the most innovative groups in its sector and the management team is really driving the business – enabling a fantastic Midlands company to thrive and secure big wins overseas.”
The company’s success in international trade was recognised for the second concurrent year in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, which positioned TTG 4th within the Derby area, based on growth in international sales.
TTG is rapidly developing its international business, and since the buy-out has invested in excess of £30m to develop new technologies in the digital mobile radio space that have put the company in head to head competition with Chinese and US corporations including Motorola and Hytera.
Mike Norfield continued: “We have aggressive plans to win further major contracts in the public safety space as well as in other domestic and international markets. We are also experiencing significant growth in our network maintenance business through group company Indigo Telecoms Group which has announced a number of deals with major network providers.”
